Appendix D: Reagents and Indicators Quick Reference

Abstract

This appendix provides a consolidated reference table of all chemicals, standard solutions, and indicators used in the manual, arranged in a single comprehensive lookup format. For each entry, the table specifies the chemical name and formula, its grade or role (primary standard, secondary standard, indicator, auxiliary reagent, or organic spot reagent), the relevant equivalent weight or molecular weight, the typical working concentration, the characteristic appearance or colour change, its purpose and use in the experiment, and the experiment reference. The 30-entry table covers: titration reagents (oxalic acid, NaOH, HCl, AgNO3, EDTA, K2Cr2O7, Na2S2O3, KOH); acid-base indicators (phenolphthalein, methyl orange); complexometric and precipitation indicators (EBT, K2CrO4, K3[Fe(CN)6], starch); auxiliary reagents (ammonia buffer, glacial acetic acid, KI, H2SO4, pH standard buffers, KCl storage solution); and organic spot reagents (CAN, FeCl3, Schiff's reagent, Fehling's solutions, sodium nitroprusside, iodine/KI, NaHCO3).
