Abstract
This appendix provides a multi-section reference compendium of standard values used to interpret experimental results throughout the manual. Six reference tables are included: (1) Water Quality Standards, covering WHO guidelines and engineering limits for chloride (250 ppm palatability, 500 ppm corrosion threshold), total hardness classification (0–75 soft through > 300 very hard, and < 50 ppm for high-pressure boiler feed), and alkalinity significance ranges; (2) Lubricating Oil Properties, covering typical kinematic viscosity ranges by SAE grade, flash point classification (flammable < 60°C, combustible 60–150°C), and acid value thresholds for fresh and degraded oil; (3) Oils and Fats Reference Values, tabulating acid value and saponification value for groundnut, coconut, castor, linseed, palm, and olive oils; (4) Physical Properties of Reference Liquids, listing density, viscosity, and flash point for water, benzene, ethanol, glycerol, acetone, and petroleum ether; (5) Equivalent Weights of Common Chemicals; and (6) Indicator pH Transition Ranges.
